10 mg ÷ 2 mL = 5 mg/mL  →  1 mg ÷ 5 mg/mL = 0.2 mL  →  × 100 = 20 units
Looks good. Draw to 20 units on a 1 mL syringe. That is an easy amount to measure, and this vial gives you 10 doses.

A mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide that binds cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane. Dosed daily in milligrams - a 10 mg vial in 1 mL gives 10 mg/mL, so one syringe unit is 100 mcg. Clinical programmes have run under the name elamipretide.

Common Questions — SS-31

How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a 10 mg vial of SS-31?

Adding 2 mL of bacteriostatic water to a 10 mg vial gives 5 mg/mL. That is the mix every number on this page is worked out from — change the water figure in the calculator and all the draw amounts update.

What dose of SS-31 is used in research?

Published and reported figures for SS-31 on this protocol run from 1 mg to 4 mg, stepping up over twelve weeks. This site lists each figure with the source it came from rather than giving a single recommended number.

How many units on the syringe is a 1 mg dose of SS-31?

At 5 mg/mL, a 1 mg dose is 20 units on a 1 mL U-100 insulin syringe. One vial at that mix gives about 10 doses.

How strong is the evidence behind these SS-31 doses?

SS-31 is graded clinical. Human trial or approved-label dosing has been published for this compound. We grade every compound on this site so you can weigh the numbers accordingly — the full method is on our editorial policy page.
